The Story of Nicolo and Carla Incisa della Rocchetta

Nicolo And Carla Incisa Della Rocchetta Barolo And Barbaresco: The King And Queen Of Italian Wine

In the rolling hills of Tuscany, Nicolo and Carla Incisa della Rocchetta created some of the most iconic wines in Italian history. Their story is one of passion, perseverance, and innovation. It is a story that has helped to shape the modern Italian wine landscape.

Nicolo was born in Turin in 1913. He was the son of a wealthy industrialist. Carla was born in Florence in 1924. Her father was a winemaker. They met in 1942 and married in 1946. They had four children together.

In the early 1950s, Nicolo and Carla moved to Tuscany and Free Downloadd the estate of San Guido. The estate was located in the Bolgheri region, which was then a relatively unknown wine region. However, Nicolo and Carla believed that the region had the potential to produce great wines.

They began by planting Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes on the estate. These grapes were not traditionally grown in Tuscany, but Nicolo and Carla believed that they could produce great wines in the Bolgheri climate.

Their first vintage, the 1968 Sassicaia, was a critical and commercial success. The wine was full-bodied, rich, and complex. It quickly became one of the most sought-after wines in the world.

In 1971, Nicolo and Carla released their second wine, the Tignanello. The Tignanello was a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. It was a bold and innovative wine that defied the traditional conventions of Italian winemaking.

Nicolo and Carla's wines helped to revolutionize Italian winemaking. They showed that it was possible to produce world-class wines in Tuscany. They also helped to put the Bolgheri region on the map as a major wine-producing region.

The King and Queen of Italian Wine is a fascinating and inspiring story. It is a story about the power of innovation and the importance of perseverance. It is a story that is sure to inspire anyone who loves wine.
